About Hannah
Hannah Palmer, mezzo-soprano, is a 23-year-old emerging artist whose performances reflect thoughtful musicianship, expressive storytelling, and a passion for collaboration.
Her recent operatic performances include Vera Boronel in The Consul with Opera at USC, as well as Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Minerva in Orpheus in the Underworld, and Mrs. Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief with Sarah Reese Lyric Theater at Furman University. During the 2025-2026 academic year, she was one of three graduate student winners of the University of South Carolina's Vocal Arts Honors Recital.
Hannah attended SongFest in 2024 and returned in 2026 for an intensive summer of masterclasses, coachings, and performances. Highlights of her time at SongFest include masterclasses with Jamie Barton and Elliot Madore, as well as participating in Martin Katz's curated recital, where she coached and performed Brahms's Zwei Gesänge, Op. 91.
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, she is pursuing a Master of Music in Voice Performance at the University of South Carolina, where she studies with Rachel Calloway. She also serves as the graduate assistant for SPARK, the University of South Carolina's Music Leadership Program. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Furman University, where she studied with Lisa Barksdale. While at Furman University, she served as student conductor of the Furman Singers, sang bass with the Honeybees, Furman's female barbershop quartet, and appeared as a soloist in performances of Handel's Messiah.
In addition to her work as a performer, Hannah is passionate about music education and strives to foster meaningful musical experiences both on and off the stage. Hannah currently teaches voice at a local high school vocal arts magnet program, where she strives to foster curiosity, confidence, and artistic growth in young musicians. She is grateful for the encouragement of her family, friends, mentors, and teachers as she continues her artistic and professional journey.
