Alcina
Hannah Palmer will make her role debut as Bradamante in Handel’s Alcina with Opera at USC this fall.
In Handel’s Alcina, the enchantress Alcina traps knights on her magical island, transforming those who stop loving her into animals or objects. Bradamante arrives disguised as her brother, Ricciardo, to rescue her fiancé Ruggiero, who has fallen under Alcina’s spell. With help from the tutor Melisso and the magic ring he gives Ruggiero, he sees through Alcina’s illusions. When her power is broken, the enchanted victims are restored and Alcina is left devastated.
